Adam Gibb is a Senior Technician and Director of A J Technology. His interest in computers started in 1984, when he purchased his first computer, a Tandy TRS80 colour computer (the height of computer technology). It had 4KB RAM, hard drives were nonexistent and programs were loaded by way of a tape player. On leaving school he initially embarked on a career in finance, working in the treasury departments of a number of financial institutions (including Suncorp and Qld Investment Corporation).
After Adam and Anna-Maria’s move to Brisbane, Adam formalised his IT knowledge by obtaining Microsoft qualifications as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and Microsoft Certified Professional + Internet (MCP+I) as well as Cert IV in Assessment and Workplace Training. He taught at TAFE for four years and during this time he founded AJ Technology to fulfil his passion for seeing computers better used in business as a tool that adds value, rather than just being an expense. His interests outside of work include (fast) cars, cooking and enjoying the Queensland lifestyle with his family.
Steve Lymbery is a Senior IT Technician. On leaving high school, Steve commenced an electrical apprenticeship with SEQEB (Energex) working on high voltage substations and customer supply. Subsequently as a contractor to SEQEB he needed a computer for invoicing and in the mid 1980’s purchased his first computer, a Tandy CoCo64, which had 16KB of RAM (much more powerful than Adam’s first computer!) but because he likes the best upgraded it to 64KB RAM. This computer was followed by a Tandy HX1000. This was the beginning of a passion for computers. His collection now totals about 12 at last count. Steve decided to leave the electrical industry and formalised his qualifications in IT and now holds a Diploma in Information Technology (Networking) and has had several years experience in IT supporting a range of different businesses. Steve’s particular interests in IT include network engineering (particularly set up and troubleshooting) and thinking “outside-the-square” to solve obscure and frustrating computer problems.
In his spare time he enjoys watching “sci fi” movies and television, “playing” with his continually upgraded computers and spending time with his family. .
